Today we are excited to present something really special, two mint condition 2002 Domaine Romanee-Conti assortment cases that have tonnes of maturity under their belt, and which are offered at global lowest market price.
Domaine Romanee-Conti, is, without a doubt, one of the most revered wine producers in the world. A combination of quality, reputation and exclusivity mean that demand always exceeds supply of their outstanding wines. Burgundy is the land of scarcity – producing a fraction of the output of other regions like Bordeaux. And DRC is no exception, producing an average of 6,000–8,000 cases across all its crus each year. Their precise, traditional approach keeps yields intentionally low in order to create fruit with exceptional concentration, even though they could produce more.

All the wines in these cases come from DRC's Grand Cru sites, including the exceptional La Tache, one of very few monopoles to be found in Burgundy. Made from a second picking of all of the domaine’s vineyards (except Romanee-Conti), Vosne-Romanee Cuvee Duvault-Blochet is labelled Premier Cru, although this rare red comes only from Grand Cru vineyards.
2002 is well known as a legendary vintage in Burgundy and one that DRC took full advantage of. Scoring up to 96 points from Burghound's Alan Meadows, these bottles are in perfect condition, bought by our client through the Dutch agent and stored under bond under temperature control at Octavian ever since. The cases were banded up until last year when we opened them to check the levels and bottles were as they should be. Photo of one of the cases can be seen below.
Despite assortment cases usually commanding a large premium due to their collectability, these particular cases are offered at the equivalent sum of the individual bottle values if you were to go out and buy individually in the market, making this a very attractive proposition.
