With the 2022 Bordeaux En Primeur campaign drawing to a close, it is a good time to reflect on the vintage. Whilst it was another good year in terms of quality, prices have, in general, been high, and allocations have been reduced.
With this in mind, savvy customers are increasingly looking at the benefits to be found in buying back vintages.
Not only can these wines offer the opportunity to save money compared to purchasing En Primeur, but there are other bonuses too:
- No long lead times, wines are already bottled and ready to ship
- Comprehensive scoring and reviews,as opposed to barrel samples with score ranges
- No jostling for allocations or having to buy tied parcels
- Reduced or no storage bill incurred while the wine matures
With this in mind, I am happy to offer a small list of Bordeaux back vintages, which we are selling on behalf of a client. All have been bought from trusted UK merchants and are stored under bond. Not only are most of these back vintages offered at a lower price than the recently released 2022s, but If you also take into account the cost of storage, the wines offered today represent much better value.
