2021 was a challenging year for the growers of Burgundy. Unfavourable growing conditions led to some producers losing over 80% of their crops. Due to the low yields, producers have been forced to push prices to cover their costs. With 2021 release prices up 25% on average, older vintages in the secondary market are now looking more and more attractive, and wiley consumers are snapping up what few cases remain.
Today we'd like to highlight the last cases we have in stock from benchmark Burgundy producer, Domaine Marc Morey.

As noted by the Wine Advocate, Domaine Marc Morey has been "quietly going about producing some of Chassagne's finest whites" for the last hundred years. Upon his return from fighting in WW1, Fernand Morey founded the estate in 1919. Marc Morey took over in 1944 following his father's death, with the holdings growing over subsequent generations. Today the estate is run by Marc's granddaughter, Sabine Mollard, who has promoted the virtues of lutte raisonée, or sustainable viticulture, in all of her vineyards, ensuring only the very best grapes reach her wines, with minimal intervention, using natural or organic treatments only when absolutely necessary.
"Sabine Mollard is one of the unsung heroes in Chassagne-Montrachet... extremely consistent in recent years and a bit of a "hidden secret" - so just keep it between us." Neal Martin - Vinous
Today we have two offerings from Domaine Marc Morey for you, scoring up to 95 points, all of which are in stock and immediately available for delivery:

Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes 2015
91 Points | Allen Meadows, Burghound
A notably more complex nose is composed by notes of petrol, resin, apple, citrus and a subtle hint of wood. The sleek, opulent and impressively concentrated middle weight plus flavors brim with sappy dry extract that coats the palate on the energetic, persistent and dry finish that displays fine depth. (Drink starting 2021)
Domaine Marc Morey & Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers 2018
95 Points | Tim Atkin, Decanter
Les Vergers is located on the northern side of Chassagne-Montrachet close to the large limestone quarry. The domaine's 1ha holding has produced a stunning Premier Cru in 2018 which combines richness and palate weight with stylish, scented oak, sappy, bracing acidity and flavours of wet stones, citrus and oyster shell. A superb white Burgundy.
