Following on from last week's offer on the double 100Pt El Enemigo Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2019, we have another wine from El Enemigo that is one of the best value whites available today, anywhere in the world.

Coming highly recommended by us, the El Enemigo Chardonnay 2021 is offered at £75 (6x75cl) IB, achieving a fantastic 97 points from James Suckling as well as a resounding approval from The Wine Advocate's Louis Gutierrez:

"The 2021 Chardonnay was phenomenal, way above the expectations for the price point...Superb! This is a bargain that is approachable now, but it should also develop nicely in bottle"
Argentina's El Enemigo has swiftly risen to prominence in just a few vintages. Founded as a joint venture between Alejandro Vigil, the esteemed winemaker of Catena, and Adrianna Catena, the younger daughter of the Catena family, El Enemigo embodies their shared passion for creating accessible wines that showcase the unique character of Mendoza's terroirs. Their mission is to produce limited quantities of exceptional wines with a focus on quality.

Hailing from the revered high-altitude Gualtallary vineyard, El Enemigo Chardonnay is matured for 9 months in French oak barrels that are not topped up, allowing a veil of flor yeast to form, which imparts a unique flavour profile to the wine.

The El Enemigo Chardonnay is a wine that regularly features in the top 5 on Suckling’s 'Top 100 Value Wines of the Year', and at , the 2021 vintage is, once again, one not to be missed!

This wine will be arriving into AMFW early in 2024 and, at just £12.50 per bottle IB, is most definitely one to stock up on.

Do get in touch to reserve your cases of Argentinian excellence, and I can confirm subject to remaining availability.

El Enemigo Chardonnay 2021
£75 (6x75cl) IB

97 | Points, James Suckling
A hint of flint and gunpowder with waxed lemon, oyster shell, mango and salted green apples. Quite a textured, saline expression of chardonnay with tangy flavors and a mineral drive. Full-bodied and reductive with phenolic support. Savory, saline and mouthwatering finish. Love the austerity here. Drink or hold.
94 Points | Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate
The 2021 Chardonnay was phenomenal, way above the expectations for the price point. It was produced with pristine grapes from Gualtallary that in the cool 2021 vintage achieved 13.5% alcohol but kept a low pH of 3.05 and 7.7 grams of acidity. It matured in oak barrels that were not topped up and let to develop a veil of flor yeast. The barrels were 500-liter ones, and despite 35% of them being new, the wine doesn't feel marked by the wood. It has the chalky texture of the limestone soils. Superb! This is a bargain that is approachable now, but it should also develop nicely in bottle. 19,600 bottles produced. (Drink 2023-2030).
