Henri Boillot's 96-Point Clos de la Mouchère
"An absolute knockout and a clear candidate for the best premier cru of the vintage"
With scores and accolades that rival the longstanding icons in the region, Domaine Henri Boillot has become one of the hottest names in Burgundy. Currently run by the father-and-son team of Henri and Guillaume Boillot, this Meursault-based domaine is home to some of the top Chardonnay in the Côte de Beaune which has methodically acquired some very enviable holdings across a swath of top Premier and Grand Cru sites. The family's monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a wine that not long ago was considered by collectors to be one of the true hidden gems in white Burgundy, has now emerged as a de facto Grand Cru that receives the kinds of scores you'd normally associate with wines commanding way higher prices. Coming from an old vine plot of Chardonnay within the premier cru vineyard Les Perrières which the family has controlled for over half a century, the Clos de la Mouchère is an intensely concentrated cuvée from Boillot that is capable of being cellared for upwards of two decades with ease.
In his most recent review of the 2022 Henri Boillot wines, Burghound's Allen Meadows states that the Clos de la Mouchère is "... an absolute knockout and a clear candidate for the best premier cru of the vintage."
Today we have an opportunity to share a small allocation of the recently released 2022 Mouchère Clos de la Mouchere along with a few other wines, all in stock for immediate delivery.

2022 Domaine Henri Boillot "Clos de la Mouchère" Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

Cases 6 x 75cl @ £950/6 IB

"96 ❤️ out of 100  ... "Here the equally cool, airy and elegant nose reflects citrus and floral scents that are liberally-suffused with a similar dose of borderline pungent wet stone nuances. There is both excellent volume and focused power to the dense and intense medium-bodied flavors that exude an almost palpable minerality on the superbly long finish that comes close to etching itself on the palate. This is an absolute knockout and a clear candidate for the best Premier Cru of the vintage." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

"(95-97) out of 100 ...  "Mid yellow, with a biscuity touch. Seems unsubtle until you get to the palate which is super powerful but also with subtlety. This Monopole vineyard comprises four distinct terroirs though they are always assembled. An electric backbone stops the power overturning the balance. Yellow fruit, and then an extraordinary, indeed grand cru, weight. Incisive white fruit finish." - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2022 Domaine Henri Boillot, Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru

Cases 3 x 75cl @ £740/3

"96 out of 100 ... A markedly floral-suffused nose somewhat grudgingly reveals its array of exuberantly fresh and spicy Granny Smith apple, acacia blossom, oyster shell and iodine. While there is certainly good richness to the succulent and seductive broad-shouldered flavors, the mouthfeel is really quite sleek with both good detail and power to the taut, serious and built-to-age finale that is given a bit of lift from the presence of bitter citrus rind. This is almost painfully intense and youthfully austere effort could use better depth but that should present no particular problem if it's given a chance to develop. This too is first-rate." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
