With the publication of William Keeley’s latest article in The Wine Advocate, Champagne is very much in the spotlight at the moment. With this in mind, we are pleased to offer a selection of fantastic Champagnes from our list, the majority of which are in stock and immediately available. Highlights include:
Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Francaises 2008: One of only two 100-point wines in Keely’s report, he described this 100% Pinot Noir as the most “powerful” and “profound” wine made during this exceptional vintage. With only miniscule quantities produced, this wine is both rare and in-demand. The not-quite-as-perfect 2002 vintage of this wine (98WA) is currently unavailable to buy anywhere in the world. This is a seriously special wine that no one will regret adding to their collection.
Bollinger PN VZ16: Like the VV Francaises, PN VZ16 is 100% Pinot Noir, with the majority being 2016 grapes blended with reserve wines dating back to 2006. This is only the second time this cuvée has been produced, benefitting from the same care and attention to detail during the winemaking process as the Francaises, yet comes at a more affordable price-point. Vinous’ Antonio Galloni states “Readers who enjoy Blanc de Noirs will adore the PN VZ 16. I find the interplay of vibrancy and the creamier notes that are so typical of the house style to be incredibly appealing”. A great value wine from a Champagne powerhouse.
Dom Perignon 2010: We have just a handful of cases available of this iconic wine, considered a jewel in what was a rather difficult vintage. Jancis Robinson awards an excellent 18.5-points, a higher score than she gave for the revered 2002 Dom Perignon, and marvels at how the 2010 is “amazingly, obviously, Dom P on the nose”. She is confident some of the wine will be held back to make their P2, the longer aged version which is only produced in exceptional years. If this prediction is correct, that is truly a nod to the quality on show here. James Suckling awards a fantastic 98 points.Considering production was down 20% in 2010, none was made in 2011, and the 2012 is incredibly tightly allocated (AM Fine Wine stocks will arrive next year), this 2010 offering is sure to be a popular choice.
Taittinger Comtes de Champagne: We have a selection of top vintages from Taittinger, including both bottles and magnums of the highly sought-after 2008. The 2008 vintage has to be one of the most in demand wines on the planet at the moment as the highest rated Taittinger Comtes across multiple critics. The relatively small number of magnums produced, and the format’s well-known benefits to aging, makes them incredibly collectable, commanding huge premiums on the secondary market. We have just 1 case of magnums available, which will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
Alongside this we have the very well scored 2006 and 2007 vintages which look to be fantastic value for money. Prices on these are heading upwards so it’s well worth buying now. On that note, we also have the recently released 2011 vintage which hasn’t had a lot of press coverage yet, but if James Suckling’s 97-point-score or Matthew Juke’s 19.5++ are anything to go by, this is certainly another vintage to snap up now before prices rise.
We have a very limited number of cases available so don’t delay if you would like to order anything from the list below.
