Domaine Marc Morey is a highly regarded wine estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, known for its aromatic, richly textured, yet crisp Chardonnays. As noted by the Wine Advocate, they have been “quietly going about producing some of Chassagne’s finest whites” for the last hundred years. Upon his return from fighting in WW1, Fernand Morey founded the estate in 1919. Marc Morey took over in 1944 following his father’s death, and the holdings have grown over subsequent generations to encompass some of the best vineyards in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Today the estate is run by Marc’s granddaughter, Sabine Mollard, who has promoted the virtues of lutte raisonée, or sustainable viticulture, in all of her vineyards, ensuring the best grapes reach her wines with minimal intervention, using natural or organic treatments only when absolutely necessary.
“Sabine Mollard is one of the unsung heroes in Chassagne-Montrachet… extremely consistent in recent years and a bit of a “hidden secret” – so just keep it between us.” Neal Martin – Vinous.
We are very pleased to offer Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers 2017.
The ever-understated Sabine Mollard professes to be “content with the 2017 vintage” and describes them as “classically styled but with a certain amount of baby fat that should permit them to drink well early on.” The critics are somewhat more effusive with Tim Atkin awarding Les Vergers 94-points, Suckling gives 93 commenting that there is “a lot of pleasure here” whilst William Kelley at the Wine Advocate says “this is well worth seeking out.”
Unfortunately, this area has been badly affected by frost damage for quite a few years, so to have an immediately available, perfectly drinking parcel at the global lowest market price is a real treat!

Another Marc Morey wine that’s returning after a frost-induced break in 2016, this is a delicate, refined Chassagne from Sabine Mollard with fresh, white flower and blossom aromas, scented oak, some baking spice sweetness and a core of pithy, zesty acidity.
William Kelly / The Wine Advocate / 93 points
One of the more youthfully accessible wines in the range is the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers, a pretty wine that opens in the glass with scents of honeyed pear, white flowers, orange oil and toasted nuts. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and charming, with fine depth at the core and racy balancing acids, it concludes with a long and nicely defined finish. This is well worth seeking out.
James Suckling / 93 points
A steely edge to the pithy grapefruit and lemon aromas with stony and slightly flinty nuances. The palate has a very precise and fresh, taut feel. Great, succulent fruit with driving acidity. A lot of pleasure here. Super minerally. Drink or hold.
