Just arrived in stock I am pleased to offer one of the old Iconic names of Napa Valley.
When the people think of Iconic wines in the context of California wine, producers such as Harlan or Dominus come to mind. Yet long before Bill Harlan or Christian Mouex made their respective marks in Napa Valley, Beaulieu Vineyard’s Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was an extraordinary wine. Beaulieu was founded in 1900 by George de Latour of Bordeaux and his wife Fernande in Rutherford. Before long Latour began expanding, buying up large swaths of adjacent land, planting vineyards and making his own wine. more…
The Schiavenza winery has been operating in the Serralunga d’Alba area since 1956.
The business was started by the brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria and is now managed by the son-in-law Luciano Pira. In the past the farmhouse with the surrounding lands were owned by the Opera Pia Barolo. The work was carried out by sharecroppers called “schiavenza”: hence the name of the producer. Currently the vineyards extend over approximately ten hectares in the Serralunga d’Alba appellation of which they make several single-vineyard cru wines. more…

This project, created in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi has been going from strength to strength in the very capable hands of winemaker Francisco Baettig. They created a Bordeaux-inspired blend that showcases Chile’s potential to compete at the top-level. more…
New release, 100-point 2017 Clos Apalta
Earlier this week we see the release of the 20th-anniversary special bottling of the 100-point 2017 Clos Apalta.
Clos Apalta was founded in 1994 by the Bournet-Lapostolle family who remain in charge of the estate today. They farm some of the world’s oldest ungrafted vines which they use to create a Bordeaux-style wine based on the Carmenere grape… more…
