Following on from the sell-out success of our last Kayli Morgan 2013 offer, we are delighted to have sourced a few more of these double-perfection bottles. Wine buyers worldwide have been switching on to the Hundred Acre Vineyard story and most of their 100-point wines are now unavailable on the market.

The driving force behind the Hundred Acre Winery is controversial founder and winemaker Jayson Woodbridge. His larger-than-life character and unconventional approach to winemaking has ruffled some feathers, but with twenty-five 100-point-scores from the Wine Advocate, his way of doing things clearly gets results.

“The genius of Jayson Woodbridge is not in dispute. A bigger than life character, he has a certain personal famboyance and no-prisoners-taken persona, but what he and his team do in the vineyards and winery speaks for itself. These are remarkable wines, with his Cabernet Sauvignons some of the very best in the world.” – Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

At the heart of Hundred Acre’s wines is the Kayli Morgan vineyard, situated at the base of Howell Mountain. Of the many 100-point-scores under Woodbridge’s belt, six were awarded to his Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan.

Today we are happy to be able to offer a few more cases of the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan. This vintage is in fact a double 100-point-scoring wine by the Wine Advocate, with both Robert Parker and Lisa Perrotti-Brown agreeing on perfection.

What’s more, the 2013 is relatively under-valued, with more age under its belt than the 2018, and a lower price point compared to the last known market values of the other 100-pointers.

Vintage Price per 3 WA Score
2018 £1,400 100

Robert Parker describes this wine as “a beautifully balanced, full-throttle and highly extracted wine with no hard edges and a finish of a good 45-50 seconds”.

Woodbridge is meticulous in both vineyard and winery, fruit is harvested grape by grape, rather than by bunch, before further sorting by hand to eliminate any imperfections. Hundred Acre wines are aged for a minimum of 30 months in French oak barriques. The wood is hand-selected for ultra-tight grain, then air dried for three years before being made into barrels.

With 200 Wine Advocate points to its name, the 2013 Kayli Morgan is well worthy of a place in any wine lover’s cellar.

100 Points | The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker
The perfect 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan spent 32 months in French oak prior to being bottled unfiltered. Like all of the Woodbridge wines, it can be noted for its inky/bluish purple color, extraordinary fragrance of white flowers, crème de cassis, blackberry and graphite. Totally opulent, I always thought the wine tasted more like the great Pomerols, which are made mostly from Merlot, versus Woodbridge’s 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. But this vineyard has a lot of clay in it that seems to provide a silkiness to the tannins. This is a beautifully balanced, full-throttle and highly extracted wine with no hard edges and a finish of a good 45-50 seconds. The fruit character is still vibrant and intense, despite the 32 months of oak age. Drink it over the next 30 years.

100 Points | The Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown
Medium garnet colored, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard gives up notes of warm blackcurrants, black cherries, sassafras, earth, smoked meats and tilled soil with wafts of garrigue. Full-bodied, super concentrated and wonderfully powerful, it has a rock-solid frame and grainy texture, finishing very long and boldly spiced.
