Unbelievably still flying somewhat under the radar, Stonestreet Estate has quietly been going about producing some of California’s top Chardonnays for many years.

Since becoming part of Jackson Family Wines, the estate has gone from strength to strength thanks to diligent work and welcome investment in both the vineyards and winery. This hard work has more than paid off with Stonestreet now producing some of the best expressions of Chardonnay in California and becoming a shining light for the Jackson family operation. When Robert Parker calls your Chardonnay “exceptional”, you know you’re getting things right – “There are seven separate cuvées of Chardonnay, all of them exceptional” – Robert Parker

Antonio Galloni too recognises the quality on show here stating, “Stonestreet is one of the crown jewels in the vast Jackson Family Estates empire… Frankly, it is a shame these wines are not better known”.

Today we are delighted to offer the fantastic single-vineyard Stonestreet Upper Barn Chardonnay 2018.

Hailing from the 35-year-old Upper Barn Vineyard that was once part of the famed Gauer ranch, both Peter Michael and Helen Turley established their reputations with grapes from this vineyard until the Jackson family made the decision to stop selling Stonestreet fruit in 2010.

Scoring a well-deserved 97 points from the Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown, she sums it up very nicely in one interjection, “YUM!”.

Crafted very much in the Burgundian style, it’s a wine that can be enjoyed now or will age beautifully in the cellar and in another Burgundian parallel, only 600 cases were produced.

With limited availability due in early next year, don’t delay adding this excellent wine to your cellar.

Stonestreet Upper Barn Chardonnay 2018
£575 (6x75cl) IB – 7 cases available

97 points | Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
The 2018 Chardonnay Upper Barn Vineyard was aged for 10 months in French oak, 46% new. It has a very classy nose of ripe peaches, fresh yellow apples and allspice followed by fresh ginger, cashew and acacia honey plus a waft of sea spray. Full-bodied, rich, satiny and with fantastic intensity and tension, it finishes very long and chalky. YUM! 600 cases were made.
